A distributed answer to a global crisis: ideas, communities and rules

A causa della crisi Covid-19 sono state progettate - da parte di maker e designer in tutto il mondo - piu’ di 5 milioni di soluzioni in meno di 2 settimane di lavoro, per aiutare ospedali ed altre strutture ad affrontare la diffusione del virus. Molte piu’ di quanto qualsiasi altro settore abbia prodotto in un tempo così ridotto.

Questo numero sorprendente mostra come la collaborazione, le tecnologie digitali e un sistema distribuito di produzione locale possano realmente fare la differenza per aiutare il settore della salute e della cura non solo in occasione di questa emergenza, ma in tutte le attività ordinarie. 

Questa è anche la prima volta in cui una community così estesa si trova ad affrontare un complesso ma fondamentale quadro normativo per garantire la sicurezza delle soluzioni prodotte.

Because of Covid-19 crisis more than 5 millions solutions have been produced in less than 5 weeks by makers and designers all around the World, to help hospitals and other structures, to tackle the spread of the virus. Far more than any single industry could have achieved in such a short amount of time.

This astonishing number shows how collaboration, digital technologies and a distributed system of local production can really make a difference, not just in helping the healthcare system during this emergency, but in the everyday activities too.

This is also the first time in which such a large community gets in contact with a complex yet fundamental regulatory framework, to guarantee the safety of the solutions produced.
